Mr. Hobby Aqueous Hobby Color — Pale Brown (Semi-Gloss)
Achieve a natural, lifelike finish with Mr. Hobby Aqueous Pale Brown. This versatile shade—highly favored as a realistic flesh tone—is an essential color for figure painters, character modelers, and those looking for a warm, subtle tan or undercoat tone. Part of the world-class Aqueous Hobby Color line, this premium acrylic combines rich color density and a natural semi-gloss sheen with the safety and ease of a water-based formula.
Key Features:
-
Natural Semi-Gloss Finish: Specially formulated to dry to a soft, satin semi-gloss. This finish is perfect for replicating the organic, subtle sheen of skin, leather, or soft fabric without looking artificially wet or dusty flat.
-
Safe and User-Friendly: The water-based acrylic resin formula is low-odor and comfortable to use indoors. It is the ideal choice for hobbyists painting in home environments or those who prefer working without the harsh smells of solvent-based paints.
-
Superior Self-Leveling: Formulated to settle evenly across the surface, this paint minimizes brush marks and ensures a clean, smooth finish, preserving fine facial features and scale muscle definition.
-
Durable and Versatile: Once fully cured, the semi-gloss surface is highly resilient, providing a stable, smooth base for detail painting, applying delicate washes, or shading.
Application Guide:
-
Hand Brushing: Stir thoroughly before use with a paint stirrer to ensure the pigments are fully and evenly mixed. Apply in thin, consistent layers. If the paint feels too thick, a small amount of Aqueous Thinner will improve flow.
-
Airbrushing: Thin at a ratio of roughly 1:1 to 1:1.5 (Paint to Thinner). Using Aqueous Thinner is highly recommended to achieve the smoothest atomization and a perfectly even, satin-like coat.
Pro-Tips for a Perfect Pale Brown Finish:
Replicating Realistic Flesh: Because skin is naturally multi-toned, try applying this paint over a warm red or pink undercoat (pre-shading). This technique lets the warm tones subtly show through from underneath, giving figures a remarkably lifelike, organic depth.
Adjusting the Sheen: While the semi-gloss finish is perfect for healthy skin or polished leather, you can easily mix in a tiny drop of Flat Base if you need to turn this shade into a dead-flat matte finish for heavily weathered clothing or desert canvas.
Cleanup: Clean your tools with water or specialized acrylic cleaner immediately after use. For dried paint in your airbrush, a dedicated hobby tool cleaner is recommended.
